Welcome to All Esthetics, a leading microshading salon in NYC (Floral Park, Long Island). Get natural, filled-in microblading that last 1-3 years. Save time on makeup and look flawless!
Microshading, also known as powder brows or ombre brows, is a refined semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo technique designed to create softly defined, elegantly shaded eyebrows. Using a professional cosmetic tattoo machine, ultra-fine pigments are carefully deposited into the upper layers of the skin to achieve a smooth, velvety finish that resembles professionally applied brow powder.
Unlike microblading, which creates individual hair strokes, microshading delivers a more polished and long-lasting result. It is suitable for all skin types and is particularly recommended for oily or sensitive skin, where traditional techniques may not retain pigment evenly.
Each procedure is performed with strict hygiene protocols, medical-grade pigments, and professional topical anesthetics to ensure both safety and comfort. The treatment typically takes two to three hours, with an initial healing period of 7–14 days. With proper aftercare and scheduled touch-ups, results can last one to three years.
While both microblading and microshading are popular semi-permanent eyebrow enhancements, they are primarily distinguished by their application methods and the final aesthetic they produce: microblading utilizes precise, hair-mimicking strokes to achieve a hyper-realistic finish best suited for normal to dry skin, whereas microshading employs a stippling technique to create a soft, “powdered” density that is far more effective for individuals with oily or sensitive skin.
This technique creates a consistent, soft layer of pigment throughout the entire brow. It mimics the look of daily makeup, providing a full, velvet-like finish. Unlike a solid “block” tattoo, Powder Brows use a stippling method to ensure the edges remain soft and misty, making them ideal for anyone who wants a “just-applied” makeup look 24/7.
Ombre Brows are a stylistic variation of the powder technique. The hallmark of this look is a soft, translucent gradient: the pigment is very light and airy at the front of the brow (near the nose) and gradually becomes darker and more defined toward the tails. This creates a modern, multidimensional look that is incredibly popular for its “soft-start” aesthetic.
As the name suggests, this is a combination of microblading and shading. The artist typically draws individual hair-like strokes at the front of the brow to mimic natural growth, then transitions into shading (powder/ombre) toward the middle and tail for added density. This is the perfect “middle ground” for those who want the realism of hair strokes but the definition of makeup.

Ideal For:
Contraindications:
The procedure takes about 2 hours
Healing process 7-10 days
Local anesthesia is used to achieve minimal or no pain
Durability from 1.5 to 3 years depending on subsequent care, skin type and lifestyle.
Step 1: Consultation. The first step will be a detailed consultation where we will get to know your individual wishes and goals. The master will assess your facial features, skin tone and eyebrow texture.
Step 2: Design. The master will carefully draw the contour and shape of your future eyebrows, taking into account your natural shape and overall blend with your face. In this step, we will work with you to ensure that the desired result meets your expectations.
Step 3: Pigmentation. Using high quality pigments, the specialist will begin the process of injecting the pigment under the skin. To do this, the pigment is gently injected using a handheld instrument with ultra-fine needles. As a result, tiny manageable dots are formed on the surface of the skin, giving the eyebrows a beautiful shade and clear outline.
Step 4: Aftercare. After the procedure is complete, your specialist will provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your eyebrows. Following these guidelines during the healing period will help you achieve long-lasting and superior results. A follow-up appointment will also be scheduled to monitor progress and make adjustments if necessary.
The microshading procedure typically takes about 2 hours and can last for 1-3 years with proper follow-up care and regular touch-ups.
Daily Maintenance (Days 1–10)
Moisture Control: Keep the treated area completely dry for the first 7–10 days. This includes avoiding direct water contact during showers and refraining from activities that cause sweating.
Sanitization: On day one, gently blot away any lymph or blood 2–4 times using a cotton pad dampened with sterile water. From day two onward, switch to light cleansing with a mild antiseptic or artist-recommended soap.
Hydration: Starting on the third day, if directed by your technician, apply a microscopic layer of a specialized balm or natural oil (such as grape seed or coconut) to prevent excessive dryness.
Physical Integrity: Allow scabs to fall off naturally. Picking, scratching, or peeling the area can lead to permanent scarring or patchy pigment loss.
Restricted Activities (Weeks 2–8)
Topicals: Keep the brow area free of makeup, lotions, and acne treatments for at least 10–14 days.
Environment & Exercise: Avoid saunas, pools, hot tubs, and intense workouts for the first 10 days.
Sun Protection: Do not expose the area to direct sunlight or tanning beds for at least 4 weeks.
Advanced Treatments: Postpone Botox, chemical peels, Retinol use, and facials for 6–8 weeks to ensure the skin has fully regenerated.
The Healing Timeline
Initial Phase (Days 1–4): Brows will appear significantly darker, thicker, and may feel tender to the touch.
Transition Phase (Days 5–10): Natural scabbing and flaking will occur. Do not interfere with this process.
Recovery Phase (Week 2+): The pigment may temporarily look faded or “invisible” as the skin heals, but the true color will resurface. Final results are typically visible after 4 weeks.
Safety Note: If you experience extreme swelling, persistent redness, or any odorous yellow discharge, please seek medical attention immediately.

Microblading involves a manual tool to draw fine, hair-resembling lines for an authentic appearance, whereas microshading (also known as powder or ombre brows) employs a device to insert small pigment dots, resulting in a shaded, makeup-like finish. Microblading works well on dry or normal skin types, but microshading offers greater longevity (18–30 months) and is compatible with every skin type, particularly those that are oily.
Microshading is typically viewed as a procedure with minimal pain or almost no pain at all, commonly likened to slight unease, a gentle scrape, or a buzzing feeling. Since experts use numbing cream prior to starting to reduce any sensitivity, the majority of people experience very little discomfort. It's frequently noted as being less painful compared to microblading.
Yes, microshading (also called powder brows) is widely regarded as highly safe and is often the recommended choice over microblading for people with oily skin or sensitive skin. Unlike microblading's hair-stroke method, microshading uses a machine to deposit small, pixel-like dots of pigment, which helps the color stay crisp and defined longer on oily skin without smudging or fading quickly. It also tends to be gentler on sensitive or delicate skin, resulting in less irritation overall.
Microshading typically lasts between 1 to 3 years (12 to 36 months), offering a semi-permanent, powdered brow effect. Results are not permanent and will fade over time, requiring touch-ups every 12–18 months to maintain the desired shape and color.
Before your microshading session, skip blood-thinning substances such as alcohol, caffeine, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E for 24–48 hours to help control bleeding and ensure the pigment settles better. Discontinue retinols, facial acids, and any skin-thinning or anti-aging treatments 2 to 4 weeks in advance. Also, protect the area by avoiding sun exposure, tanning, waxing, or threading for at least one week prior to the appointment.
